In honor of the 30th Annual Georgetown Wooden Boat Show taking place this weekend, today we are highlighting the wonderful community of Historic Georgetown. Come explore this quaint waterfront community with us.

By land or by sea, Georgetown, South Carolina is easily accessible and located just off of Highway 17 between Charleston and Myrtle Beach. Boats may navigate to the Intracoastal Waterway, Black River, and Pee Dee River from the famous city port and Winyah Bay, a natural resource for which Georgetown is most well-known. The heart of the community resides along Front Street where shopping, dining, museums, event venues, and local culture thrives.

Surrounded by live oak lined streets, Georgetown is the 3rd oldest city in the state of South Carolina and is filled with antiquity, southern charm and an attractive personality. It can be difficult to decide which is more astonishingly preserved: the downtown dotted with dozens of pre-Revolutionary buildings or the riches of Georgetown's unspoiled coast.

You can experience one of these pre-Revolutionary, Georgetown homes built sometime between 1740 and 1750, 614 Prince Street or the Sampson-Hamby-Ward House, in the video tour below. This home is currently listed by sales associate Toby Avant.

Just a few blocks over on Broad Street, you will find another stylish & historic gem that dates back to the early 1900's. This 3 bedroom, 2 bath Colonial style home was remodeled in 2012 to maintain modern comforts in an antique space. This residence is currently listed by sales associate Jack Pate.

As a reflection of its rich maritime history as a port city, Georgetown hosts its annual Wooden Boat Show every October on the third weekend of the month. Thousands gather to celebrate the art and heritage of boat-making, sailing, fishing, and more with a weekend-filled with festivities and fun for all ages in the Historic Downtown area. Don't miss this year's event taking place on October 19th and 20th!

Georgetown's charm and quality of life hasn't gone unnoticed. Named by Outside Magazine as one of its "Top Ten Best Towns 2004," Georgetown is renowned for its distinctive riverfront shops and restaurants. In 2018, Georgetown was voted #1 Best Coastal Small Town on USAToday's 10Best website and ranked within the Top 10 again in 2019. From the moment you step onto Front Street or make your way down the Harbor Walk, you will fall in love with Georgetown.
