The city of Georgetown will hold its 30th Annual Wooden Boat Show this weekend. A time-honored tradition that locals look forward to all year round, the Wooden Boat Show always takes place on the third weekend of October. The first of the festivities begin tomorrow evening at the Exhibitor Welcome Reception and Goat Island Yacht Club Regatta; so, today we are taking a walk down memory lane with photos from our team members at the show over the years. You are sure to see just how special the Wooden Boat Show is to us!
The Georgetown Wooden Boat Show celebrates our port city's history, maritime heritage, and aquatic activities that have shaped the community. Seated on the Atlantic Coast's Winyah Bay with five rivers running throughout the county, it is easy to see why boating and fishing have become an integral part of life in Georgetown. People of all ages enjoy time on the water as a pastime, sport, and/or career. The Wooden Boat Show serves as a celebration of these widely held sentiments in the hearts of residents and visitors alike.

On display for the exhibit, you will see masterfully crafted classic boats, kayaks, and yachts, but that's not all. There is truly something for everyone: live music, art & crafts displays, knot tying demonstrations, building competitions, rowing races, educational exhibits, and more.

Kids will especially enjoy the opportunity to build and test their own model boat on Saturday afternoon; then on Sunday, families can watch as the youngest sailors ages 8 to 15 embark in actual boats and race from the docks at Francis Marion Park for the South Carolina Maritime Museum's Youth Sailing Program Opti Pram Regatta.
